Modular IR

This course is intended for candidates looking to add an Instrument Rating to their license

In order to enrol in the course, candidates need to comply with the following entry requirements:

  • Hold a current JAA PPL or CPL
  • Have completed the JAA CPL or ATPL theoretical course (with IR theory)
  • Hold an international radiotelephony qualification
  • Have completed 50 crosscountry flight hours as PIC (if holder CPL)
  • Have completed 120 flight hours, of which at least 80 as PIC in crosscountry flight (if holder PPL)
  • Hold a valid JAA Class I medical certificate
  • Hold a current Night Qualification

For this course, we offer two options at Gestair Flying Academy :

Please allow for 2 more hours in C172 NAV III or PA34 for the flight exam.

NOTE 1 : Holders of CPL may reduce the flight hours for the modular IR (Multi Engine course) by 5 hours Cessna 172 NAV III, flying only 10 hours on this aircraft.

NOTE 2 : The rating obtained in this course will allow the holder to fly in IFR conditions on either single engine (IR-SE) or both single engine and multi engine aircraft (IR-ME). However, the modular IR (Multi Engine) course does not provide the holder with a Multi Engine rating (ME). This rating has to be obtained in a separate modular course, although possibilities exist to combine the ME modular course with the IR-ME modular course.
