The joint-venture formed by Gestair, aeronautical specialist and leader in Europe with a quota of aproximately 60% in the executive aviation market in the Iberian Peninsula, and Assistair, handling operator with focus on Cataluņa, Valencia and Palma de Mallorca, has been assigned one of the new FBOs - facilities specifically prepared to offer ground service to executive aviation passengers, crews and aircrafts - at the airport of El Prat in Barcelona.

The period of this licence includes the 2008 and 2009 excercise, with a possible extension of one year.

With this concession, the joint-venture Gestair-Assistair reinforces its positioning at El Prat where, during the year 2007, the six main operators of private aviation operated more than 4.000 movements, of which 1.400 were operated by Gestair Private Aviation.

According to the forecasts, the new facilities built by AENA, in its intention to promote the development of executive aviation in Spain, will be operative in March 2008.

With this building containing two FBOs, AENA panders the competitiveness between the companies of the sector and the increase of movements during the next years as well as to the upward tendency of executive aviation.

The proposal presented by Gestair-Assistair achieved 48.30 out of 50 points in the technical evaluation, surpassing in more than 14 points the evaluation obtained by other companies of the sector.

On the other hand, Gestair FBO, thanks to the new allocation, reinforces its presence in the Catalan market and consolidates its leadership in offering an exclusive and differentiating ground service. The new concession will allow Gestair FBO the optimization of passenger, crew and aircraft services when amplifying and modernizing the facilities.

After obtaining this concession, Gestair advances towards the attainment of its objectives of the Strategic Plan 2007-2010 whose aim is to duplicate its present size in next the 3 years through  new opportunities of business, the internationalization of its units of business and the fortification of its infrastructure, which will suppose an investment of 185 million euros in between 2007 and 2010.
