Gestair's aviation safety department participated in the kick-off meeting of the European Network on Impact of Climate Change on Aviation (EN-ICCA) held in Cologne, Germany. This new initiative launched by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), is based on better understanding the effects of climate change on aviation. The main objective of this working group is to prepare the industry and aviation authorities to cope with these changes and to ensure that European aviation maintains its high safety standards.
The initiative is open to participation by all European aviation stakeholders, including airlines, aircraft manufacturers, air navigation service providers, aeronautical authorities, research groups and meteorological agencies.

During this kick-off meeting, Gestair presented some of the initiatives the company is considering to manage the impact of climate change on aviation, as scientific evidence shows that the severity of weather phenomena could be increase in a future.
Gestair will be working with the scientific community and industry over the coming months to gain more knowledge about the impact of climate change on aviation and recommendations to mitigate potential hazards that may arise in the coming years.
