Repsol and Gestair have signed a collaboration agreement by which they commit to move towards a more sustainable mobility. Repsol's Director of International Aviation, Oliver Fernández, and the CEO of Gestair Group, Carlos Gericó, have formalized the agreement, which translates into promoting and encouraging the development of projects based on the use of new energies in the business aviation sector.
Under this agreement, both companies will create areas of collaboration for the analysis and formulation of proposals aimed at boosting the development and consumption of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), efficiency improvements, carbon capture and emission offsets.
Gestair, within its HORIZON program, takes another step forward in its firm commitment to action and social responsibility in the face of climate change, moving forward with new alliances and actions that allow it to push its clear commitment towards a more sustainable future. This agreement materializes the company's will to adopt solutions that meet the current market demand and that of its customers, who can now make their journeys using SAF fuels and offsetting emissions on all their flights.
For its part, Repsol is a pioneer in the manufacture of sustainable aviation fuels in Spain, and with the production of fuels in its industrial complexes it is anticipating the different measures that community institutions have established to promote the use of sustainable aviation fuels.
In this regard, the multi-energy company will start up the first advanced biofuels plant in Spain, in Cartagena (Murcia), which will produce 250,000 tons of renewable fuels from waste, as part of the company's goal of reaching a production capacity of 1.3 million tons of renewable fuels by 2025 and more than 2 million tons by 2030, thus leading this market in the Iberian Peninsula and making decisive progress towards the goal of zero net emissions by 2050.
Repsol is a global multi-energy company that is leading the energy transition and has set itself the goal of being zero net emissions by 2050. It is present throughout the energy value chain, employs 24,000 people, distributes its products in more than 90 countries and has 24 million customers.
It can meet any energy and mobility need of consumers, with a customer-centric offer. It is at the forefront of the development of sustainable solutions for mobility, with increasingly efficient fuels, electric recharging, renewable fuels (advanced biofuels and synthetic fuels), AutoGas or natural gas vehicles.
To achieve net zero emissions by 2050, Repsol is committed to a model that integrates all technologies for decarbonization, based on improving efficiency, increasing its renewable electricity generation capacity, the production of renewable fuels, the development of new solutions for customers, the circular economy and the promotion of cutting-edge projects to reduce the industry's carbon footprint.
